The MuchLoved Charitable Trust is the pioneering bereavement charity founded by Jonathan Davies in 1998 following the death of his brother and shortly afterwards his mother. Finding very limited online resources to help with his own grief, Jonathan was inspired to design a web-based tribute service for others.
Philip was twenty one and in his final year as a law student at the University of Birmingham when he died. He had a healthy enthusiasm for life, an intelligent mind and a transparently warm nature. His sudden death was a tragedy to all his family and those that knew him.
We knew that to create a service that had a really positive impact, the site had to totally focus on the needs of the bereaved person setting up the site, the Tribute Guardian.
The year after launching we exhibited for the first time at the 2007 NFE. Whilst there was interest at the exhibition it was clearly a bit too soon. The concept of online memorials was unfamiliar, and the technology a barrier.
In 2014, MuchLoved moved into proper offices at last. Our expanded space in 2017 even had room for a water cooler. Every office needs one of these to share the gossip!
